Tom told me that the current playground was being extended southward, from its current boundary (shown below). The low concrete wall on this boundary will be removed, so that the gravel base of the old playground will be fully consistent with that of the extension. New playground equipment will be installed in the extended portion, including swings. Special care will be taken with the placement of the swings so that some of the risks associated with that kind of playground equipment are minimized. The new soccer field at Fern Bluff Elementary has been placed on hold for the time being. It had been planned for the area to the west of the existing playground. Page 2: 2001's First Bluebonnets

Early this morning the RRISD
Maintenance crews were busy at work on an extension of the playground at
Fern Bluff Elementary School.
Tom Chavez, of RRISD Maintenance (below), was supervising the work in progress.
